The city of Tsaghkadzor houses Armenia’s premier sports facility and is one of the country’s main tourist attractions. Grigor Magistros Pahlavuni, an important political and military leader, diplomat and scholar, founded the Kecharis Monastery, which stands in the center of the city, in the XI c. In the 16-17 centuries spiritual and cultural life flourished in Kecharis Monastery. At that time many manuscripts were produced there, some of which have survived to our day.
