mughni
Mughni kept its medieval name, along with the XIV c. Monastery of S. Gevorg, once a popular pilgrimage site for both Christians and Muslims as it was home to the relics of St. Gevorg. According to tradition, the relics of St. George are found under the sole tombstone, situated in the church. The monastery was home also to many other relics of saints but its most prized possession was the reliquary of the Right Hand of St. George, made of silver and dipped in gold.
